Our sister journal now has a new feature ‘Editor’s Choice’. The Editor’s Choice papers will be highlighted on the AHE website carousel and on social media. The inaugural papers all contain authors who are EAVA members – so congratulations to all of them for their beautiful work.
YGVA abstracts published.
Our EAVA YGVA meeting organised by our hosts Nedžad Hadžiomerović, Faruk Tandir and the team was incredible! The abstracts have now been published in Journal Veterinaria.
We had a very warm welcome in Sarajevo and even made the news.

The 13th Young Generation of Veterinary Anatomists has come to a successful close, leaving behind days filled with science, knowledge exchange, new ideas, and lasting friendships.It was a great honour for us to host more than 100 participants from over 20 European countries. Throughout the congress, valuable scientific research was presented, experiences were shared, and, most importantly, new professional connections and friendships were established that I am confident will continue well beyond this meeting.I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who dedicated their time, effort, and enthusiasm to the organization of this important scientific event. My special thanks go to our wonderful students, whose professionalism, commitment, and positive attitude made an invaluable contribution to the success of the congress. Once again, they reminded me what a privilege it is to be a professor when you have such outstanding students. Thank you to all participants for your trust, your inspiring presentations, and the wonderful moments we shared together. I sincerely hope that you will leave Bosnia and Herzegovina with beautiful memories, new friendships, and a desire to visit us again.

A Tribute to Retiring EIC Prof. Fred Sinowatz
EAVA member and honorary member Professor Fred Sinowatz has provided our international community with decades of service as Editor-In-Chief at Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia. To show our gratitude we present a ‘A Retirement Tribute to Professor Fred Sinowatz’ signed by the new Editor-In-Chief William Pérez, and Associate Editors Johannes Seeger, Pieter Cornillie, Brooke H. Dubansky, Francesco Abbate, Catrin S. Rutland and everyone at AHE. It has been published in AHE.

Wrocław, Poland, Main Congress 20-23rd July 2027
Our next main congress will be in Wrocław in 2027. Karolina Goździewska and Aleksandra Rozwadowska will be hosting us 20-23rd July 2027 at their veterinary faculty. So save the date.
Registration will open January 2027.
Congress Scholarship Awards announced
We are delighted to announce up to six Congress Scholarships worth up to 350 Euros each for PhD/doctoral members for our 2027 congress in Poland. Applications will open once registration details have been announced in January 2027.
The 2025 winners are Ante Plecas (Zagreb) and Jeroen Carlier (Ghent).
NAV updates
WAVA has the responsibility for veterinary anatomical nomenclature. It has published, and regularly reviews, volumes for gross anatomy, histology and embryological anatomy – Nomina anatomica veterinaria, Nomina histologica veterinaria and Nomina embryologica veterinaria. It does this through a series of international nomenclature committees. Prof W. VAN DEN BROECK, Ghent, Belgium, is the chairman & secretary of ICVGAN and he invited expressions of interest from YGVA and EAVA members to join our committees!
