Upcoming Congresses

See you in Ghent in 2020

Dear morphologists, dear colleagues, dear friends,

The end of 2020 is coming soon, and these dark days before Christmas become even darker when we need to limit our social contacts with family and friends. Corona is affecting everyone, and maybe even more intense than ever, given the fact that some countries have installed a “hard lockdown” in what should be the most beautiful time of the year. This is very difficult to bear, and I think that our feelings now can best be expressed with the words of the rector of Ghent University: Corona sucks !

On a professional level, most of us have encountered some difficulties and problems in teaching veterinary morphology, and probably the same questions arose …. Is it possible to give online anatomy and histology courses ? Can digital microscopy really replace microscopy where students operate the microscope themselves and observe the specimen ? Can dissection skills really be taught to students by showing a recorded demo of an anatomical dissection? These are just some of the many questions that each of us faces, but fortunately, we can rely on the knowledge we shared during the previous EAVA congresses, mainly during the “teaching anatomy” sessions. It is precisely in these troubled times that the value of our EAVA congresses becomes apparent.

Therefore, my friends, we are convinced that we should organize the XXXIIIrd EAVA congress in 2021. For the moment, the situation in most European countries is bad, but there is hope. Vaccination campaigns will start soon, and in the meantime, most of us have gained a lot of experience with online meetings and virtual congresses. So, whatever the situation will be next year, the XXXIIIrd EAVA congress will take place from July 28 to July 31, 2021, either virtually, onsite in Ghent, or in hybrid form. We will monitor the situation closely and keep you informed so that all of you can participate in next EAVA congress in the safest and most pleasant circumstances. Together, we will make the XXXIIIrd EAVA congress a special edition to remember !

On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2021. Stay safe and healthy, take care of you and your loved ones, and I really hope we can meet in July 2021.

Prof. dr. Wim Van den Broeck.

The 33rd Congress of European Association of Veterinary Anatomists in Ghent, Belgium

DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO SUMMER 2021.

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to attend the XXXIIIrd Congress of the European Association of Veterinary Anatomists, in Ghent, Belgium, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

We anticipate that the Congress will attract over 200 scientists from all over the world, working within the fields of veterinary anatomy, histology and / or embryology to share their knowledge and ideas.

We are planning an outstanding scientific program, that will not only be a platform to showcase exciting new developments in veterinary morphology, but will also demonstrate the important role of veterinary morphology in underpinning different aspects of cutting-edge veterinary and human medicine.

Of course, a long tradition of EAVA congresses has been the vibrant social calendar. The XXXIIIrd EAVA Congress will be no different and participants will have ample opportunity to enjoy the food, beer(s) and hospitality that Belgium (and Ghent) is famous for.

In addition to state-of-the-art science, Ghent offers many wonderful tourist activities. While the iconic Medieval castle, the stunning Ghent towers and the pleasant historical city center provide the backdrop to this exciting event, Ghent is also the gateway to many unique Belgian experiences.

We look forward to warmly welcoming you and your family to Belgium for this unforgettable experience.

Kind regards, on behalf of the local organizing committee,

Wim Van den Broeck.
