Plan your route online with TomTom.
For travel on highways in the Czech Republic, a vignette sticker is necessary. Sections, where the motorway vignette is required, are marked with a typical “highway” or “motorway” traffic sign. Motorways and highways that are free of charge are marked by a traffic sign “free of charge” (a picture of a crossed-out vignette) together with the standard highway/motorway traffic sign. Vignettes can be purchased at all Czech Post branches, fuel stations, border crossings and other places providing services for motorists.
Parking in the city of Brno is possible only in designated areas and is mostly paid. In the outer areas of the city there are larger parking lots. There are also several underground and above-ground garages available.
Excellent bus connections between Brno and the rest of Europe is provided by several bus operators. Brno is also the starting point and final destination of many national bus lines. The Zvonařka central bus terminal is operated by Tourbus and provides international and domestic transportation. Another important bus station is the Brno Grand station located on Benešová street (by Grand Hotel Brno). This station is used by many long distance domestic operators (such as Student Agency) and a number of international operators as well (Student Agency, Tourbus, Eurolines).
The South Moravian region also offers a sophisticated Integrated Public Transport System of the South Moravian Region (IDS JMK – public city transportation, buses and trains).
Brno is also an important railway junction. The main railway station is located directly in the city center and transportation is provided by České dráhy (Czech Railways).
Comfortable transport by rail in the Czech Republic and abroad is provided by several above-standard trains (category RJ, EC, IC) and standard quality trains also (category Sp, Os, R, Ex). Tickets for main train connections can be purchased on-line.
